History: 2025-26

 Zadok and Qorban both completed grade-appropriate history courses at our local co-op, including weekly reading and writing homework, and in-class activities. Zadok's year concluded with him writing a paper and giving a presentation about Yuri Gagarin.


I personally taught Qorban's grade level. The class was a combination of history and geography, geared toward the 2nd grade level.

Science 2024-25

In addition to a variety of topics covered at home, many special studies and weekly nature/world-themed documentaries, Zadok and Qorban both completed grade-appropriate science courses at the homeschool co-op. Zadok won quite a few prizes for exceptional work. I personally taught Qorban's grade level. This year, we focused on land-dwelling animals, with additional forays into topics like the human body, germs, parasites, and various kinds of plants. Each year, we grow a garden with a wide variety of plants and observe the insects, birds, and plant life in our neighborhood. Qorban has kept slugs, millipedes and woodlice as pets and subjects of observation, and Zadok (who hopes to have a pet snake someday) has taken over the responsibility of caring for his aunt's birds (who live with us.)

Social Studies and Field Trips 2022-2023

 Field Trips: We took family field trips to Longwood Gardens, the Chesapeake Bay, and Washington D.C., among other places. Zadok was especially excited to see the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. Social Studies: Over the past year, we have read books on various topics, including picture books about Hanukah, Ramadan, and other holidays. A book we've especially enjoyed introduces nations and people groups in alphabetical order. We took a trip down memory lane and visited to an Afghan restaurant, and experimented with different kinds of Persian-style food at home. Zadok enjoys maps, and can name the capitals of at least 30 countries (including Afghanistan.)
